Derek Jeter’s son’s name has a special meaning.
On Monday, the former Yankees captain took to social media to announce the birth of his and wife Hannah Davis Jeter’s son, Kaius Green Jeter, sharing that their fourth child arrived on May 5, 2023.
The name Kaius is a boy’s name of Latin origin meaning “rejoice,” according to nameberry.com, a baby name generator created by experts.
The name Kaius is a derivation of Caius, and is most commonly connected to the 15th-century English poet John Caius, per thebump.com.
Fashion designer Rachel Zoe and her husband, Roger Herman, named their son Kaius Jagger when he was born in December 2013.
Jeter and Hannah — a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model — quietly welcomed their first son without announcing they were expecting their fourth child together.
The couple are parents to daughters Bella Raine, 5, Story Grey, 4, and River Rose, 1.
“Welcome to the world lil man!!!@hannahbjeter,” Jeter wrote on Instagram Monday, with Hannah sharing his announcement on her Instagram Story.
He shared an image of the name “Kaius Green Jeter” and the date “5-5-23.”
The former Yankee also changed his Instagram bio to read: “Sleep-deprived father of four.”
During a February appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Jeter discussed being a dad to three girls.
“It’s controlled chaos is the best way to put it,” Jeter said. “It’s school pick-ups, drop-offs, they do my nails, my toenails, makeup, lipstick — and it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced though, my girls, they are the absolute best.”
When asked if his daughters are interested in sports, Jeter explained that he thinks they’re a “little too young.”
“They don’t know much about my career,” he said. “They came to Yankee Stadium for the first time a few months ago, we were on the field, so they understand that I played for the Yankees.”
Jeter and Hannah, who’ve been married since 2016, tend to keep their relationship and home life fairly private.
The Yankees legend — the 1996 AL Rookie of the Year and 2000 World Series MVP — was enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame in September 2021, where Hannah and their two eldest daughters were in attendance.
In June 2022, Mr. and Mrs. Jeter attended the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of his ESPN docuseries, “The Captain.”
At the time, Hannah shared a photo of the couple at the premiere on Instagram, where she gushed over her husband.
